Want to do some fun experiments on your brain? Don't worry, these are ones you can try at home. Not only are they perfectly safe, but they will also they will help you demonstrate your own brainpower.

1. Activate your right brain by singing.

You can rhyme more easily when singing, because you're working from the part of the brain that recognizes patterns (usually the right hemisphere). Try a fun singing experiment. Without singing, make a rhyming poem about something that happened today. Work on this for a minute or so, then try it again, but this time sing the poem as you make it up.

You'll probably find that you can easily find rhyming words when singing. You can also create a song in order to remember things. Singing may also help activate your right-brain more fully when you are working on a problem involving spatial reasoning. This is speculative, but it can be a fun experiment to try.

Creativity gives power to your thinking. Raw computation can be done by computers now, but humans provide the creative thought that shapes our world. There are many ways to develop your creativity, but the simplest way is to exercise it. Train your mind to look for the creative or different angle on things. Practice finding creative solutions to problems as you are driving around or sitting in a waiting room.

You Already Are Intuitive

Think back to a time when you had a hunch about something. That was intuition. It is nothing more than your mind using more than what you are consciously aware of. But how do you trust your intuition? How can you improve it and use it? First, understand what it is.

Gary Kasparov can play and beat the best chess computer. How is this possible when the computer can calculate positions many moves further ahead than he can. It is because of his intuitive grasp of the game. Experience allows him to combine analysis with a "sense" of which move is best.

Intuition also works as a warning device. My wife and I both felt we shoudn't get on that bus in Cuenca, Ecuador. Psychic? Not at all. We knew...
