I hope you'll participate in the new brainpower contest.

Brainpower Contest
Do you know a good way to increase your brainpower, score
higher on tests, think more creatively, solve problems, or develop
your intuition? If it isn't already covered here on the site,
or if you have a new way to apply one of the techniques here,
let me know, and you could win a prize.
Tell me about the technique, brain food, product, or whatever
it is in a paragraph or two. Each week I'll choose the best one
I get, and post the tip here. If yours is chosen, you'll win
any one of the e-books or reports at my site www.99reports.com.
Some suggestions and the winners are posted here:

Note: The Brainpower Tips
Contest has been discontinued for now.

Keep Your Brain From Aging
What does the latest research show?
- Eating fish once per week cuts the risk of Alzheimer's by
60%.
- Two cups of green tea per day reduced the risk of cognitive
impairment in older people by 54%. Black tea did not have the
same effect.
- Those who eat more saturated animal fat during middle-age
double their risk of Alzheimers.
- Some studies seem to show that eating fewer calories overall
may cut the risk of dementia and Alzheimer's.

Did You Know...
- If you were cast adrift in space unprotected, you would
explode before suffocating (no pressure to hold your body together).
- Things are shorter when moving faster. For example, at a
1,000 km per hour, a jet becomes one atom shorter.
- Anders Celsius' original Celsius scale had water freezing
at 100 degrees and 0 degrees was the temperature at which water
boiled. Once he died, scientists reversed the scale to make it
acceptable.

This Week's Riddle
This is an unusual conundrum, and also an unusual paragraph.
How fast can you find out what is so uncommon about this paragraph?
It may look ordinary, and you may think nothing is odd about
it. That is, until you match it with most paragraphs this long.
Think about it, study it, and you will find out, but do it on
your own, without any coaching. Just go to work and try your
skill at figuring it out. Plan on about half an hour, and good
luck!
(The answer is at the bottom of the page)

This Week's Brainpower Practice
Learn To Discipline Yourself - A recent study, reported in
the journal Psychological Science, addressed the issue of IQ
level, self discipline, and academic performance. Basically,
the study found that while IQ level did correlate with academic
performance, there was a much stronger correlation with self
discipline. Students with high self-discipline have much better
grades than high-IQ students. They also found that there was
no correlation between IQ and discipline (they varied independently).

This Week's Page Reminder
(Many subscribers are not aware of all the
pages of the site. This section is a reminder of useful pages
you may have missed. You can just ignore this part if you have
read the following page.)
A Three Step Problem Solving Method
Which way do you like to solve your problems? Using the more
creative problem solving methods, or the systematic ones? Why
not get the best of both with the add-subtract-change method.
Look at a bicycle, if one is available. For new ideas in bicycle
design, all we have to do is look at the elements that are already
there and ask three things. What can we add? What can we subtract?
What can we change?
Add: Maybe pet owners would like a built-in dog or
cat carrier. Subtract: Are 18 gears really necessary?
There would still be six gears and one less thing to break if
a shifter is removed. Change: What the advantages be if
the wheels were larger or the frame made of a flexible material?
Personal Problems Too?
The method is well suited to developing new products, but
what if...
