Law of Attraction?

Brainpower Newsletter

Sunday, August 19, 2007

I recently listened to the CD version of "The Secret." No secret there, but even though the ideas are recycled (aren't most ideas?) they do have some validity. Below you'll find my take on the "law of attraction."

The Real Secret Of Attraction

The secret of attraction? If you have been in a bookstore or online in the last year, you probably know that this has become the hottest new idea in self improvement. Of course, it isn't a new idea, so really it is just the hottest new way to recycle an old idea. But what is it, and does it work as claimed?

The "Law" Of Attraction

The basic idea is that you attract more of what you think about. Think about money constantly, and it will come to you. Think about love, and the woman of your dreams will appear. Yes, unfortunately, it is often presented like that. Years ago it used to be more common to teach this idea as part of general goal-setting techniques, where it was assumed that you would also be taking the relevant actions that...

Did You Know...

- It is claimed that chewing on gum while cutting onions will stop the tears.

- Other than humans, armadillos are the only animal known to get leprosy.

- Some scientists estimate that the Amazon rain forest produces half the world's oxygen supply.

New Book By Steve Gillman

What if you knew ways to spend less on almost everything? What would you do with the money you saved? Travel? Buy something nice for someone you love? Cut your hours at work and relax a little more? The possibilities are endless.

There are more than 400 ways to save money listed in Part Two of the book, including ways too get some things at without cost, like dental x-rays and tire repairs.

The real value in the book, however, is in Part One. This is the part that will really change your thinking. You'll see how to get more for your money - more of what really matters to you. You'll learn about the studies in "behavioral economics," how that research is being used to manipulate you, and what you can do about it. You'll discover the "7 Keys" as well.

This Week's Brainpower Practice

One of my subscribers in Iran sent in a brainpower recipe last year. He recommended eating cheese and walnuts to boost brainpower. No scientific evidence yet, but my wife and I tried it for several weeks every morning, and it did seem to help. I suspect that in addition to the healthy amino acids and other good things found in the walnuts, the low-glycemic index value also helps. Anything sweet or that is rated high on the glycemic index tends to cause blood sugar imbalances, and brain fog.

New Product Ideas

Here are some new product ideas for things yet to be invented, or innovations yet to be tried. You can be the inventor or innovator if you wish. As far as I know, there are no patents on the following ideas - but do your research, of course.

1. An underwater treasure hunting camera. With all the new interest in metal detectors and treasure hunting, this is a natural. Years ago there was a treasure hunter who regularly found guns, money and more in murky rivers, using a tube with a plexiglass glued over one end, and a light strapped to the outside. He held the device near the bottom of the river and was able to see what was there.

A small camera, now that the technology has developed would be much more fun. It could be lowered to great depths from any boat or dock. A motorized "claw" at the bottom might make it especially useful and ...
