Go to a busy and loud place to write a letter or essay, or to study. Try this a few times to see if it gets easier to concentrate (it should). You can train yourself to screen out distractions in this way, and so learn to concentrate more effectively in any situation.

Glow -in-the-dark furniture. Maybe just have the edges trimmed with a glow-in-the-dark material. No more bumping into the coffee table in the dark. Nice party...
